Joe Wheeler State Park Hiking Trails - Blue Blazed Loop & Campground Trail Hiking Trail Walking Trail Joe Wheeler State Park’s most popular hiking is a trail system located between the Day Use Area and the Resort Lodge. This trail network consists of approximately 2.5 miles of trails. The Blue Blazed Lops trail is 1.8 miles; Campgroup Trail is 0.5 miles. |

Joe Wheeler State Park Hiking Trail - Yellow Blazed Loop Hiking Trail Bicycle Trail Walking Trail Scenic Trail The Southside cabin area hosts a 2.5 looped multi-use trail for hikers and mountain bikers. The trailhead is accessed from AL Hwy. 101 near Wheeler Dam and the cabin area. Mostly level trail with smooth footpath. Frequent yellow blazes in woods. Some open mowed places near power lines with no markings. Just follow the clearings until entry into yellow blazed woods again. Nice overlooks of Wilson Lake and Nance Creek. |

Rails to Trails Hiking Trail Bicycle Trail Bird Watching Horseback Wildlife Trail Walking Trail The 10.3 mile trail with 8.2 miles now open winds its way past the site of the Battle of Sulphur Creek Trestle. Walkers can retrace the same steps as civil war heroes. This trail offers a back-to-nature getaway for thousands of local residents and tourists. Hikers, bikers, joggers, bird watchers, horseback riders, as well as naturalists, students and historians are just some of the groups who enjoy the great variety of opportunities created by the trail.
